Monday:
Might end up making the prop or a modified version thereof from the movie/comic Valerian and the City of a Thousand planets. Doing research into the trigger and grip I've noticed that a lot of 'futuristic/sci-fi' guns tend to be bulky. I would've thought they'd be more sleek and easier to carry. Also a lot of them tend to light up, I guess it's because of the fact that they are laser guns.
Made a maquette thats about 1/2-1/4 the size of what the final one is going to look like. Althought I might bake the barrel bigger or the grip smaller.
Tuesday:
Spot welded base structure. Added the wire meche and shaped it to get it to look organic.
Wednesday:
Did a layer of papier mache. Tried to smooth it out so it looked elegant. Whilst doing this and pushing the papier mache through, it gave it a scaley texture which was pretty cool but not the look I was going for. I also found out that I can sand the paper mache which I might do to make the structure smoother.
Will let dry Thursday-Monday.
Dan has told me to research into how guns work. Form over function or vice versa.
