I've come into foundation knowing I wanted to go into model making, but I wanted to keep an open mind just in case it wasn't the right pathway for me. Talking to friend who is currently doing her first year of model making has really helped me with my decision as she has given me plentiful insight into what it's going to be like next year.

The design project really helped me with my pathway decision as well as I really got into the processes during the sessions, as well as the actual designing. However, I would have much rather had the opportunity to create a 3D model of my final design, had I had enough time and the right skills/materials to do so.

Thinking back on the tutorials, there is one thing (drawing classes) that I have kept forgetting to do, either because I was ill or didn't have the money. However, as it would help my drawing skills I found a website that does life drawing classes. I acknowledge that it is vastly different, mainly the fact that it isn't 'life' drawing, but it has helped me gain more skill.

At this point in time, I see myself as a prop designer TV shows/movies or theatre. As I would love to work in the entertainment industry in some way/shape or form. I had also considered being going into make-up next year but I would rather just keep the sfx make-up that I do as a hobby rather than as a possible career option. I think it would just be too stressful for me.

I have found the presentation and communication skills that I have had to pick up (for the reviews) to be quite useful in building up my self confidence and the confidence I have or will have when showing/presenting my work to others. My research skills, on the other hand, still need refining, especially my primary research skills, such as going out and asking strangers questions relevant to my projects.

Through the design project, or at least the first day of it, I have reaffirmed that I work well in a team as I like bouncing ideas off of others and ... I also had the experience of being team leader for once, which was interesting because I used to be too shy and unsure of myself to lead others, but I think we made a good team and produced pieces that I we were pleased with. (see cardboard model on main page)

Going through the pathway presentations I found myself drawn towards the 3D one for obvious reasons.
