Evaluation and Reflection 1

I have found that I have settled in quite easily and quickly. However, it has taken me some time to get to know my tutor group, but I feel like it will be a great opportunity to help each other improve as we are likely to be straight to the point during crits.

One of the main differences I have found was that AUB is not academically focused at all, which is to be expected, but still takes a while to adjust too. I am enjoying the fact that our sole focus is on art and the different processes and skills. Rather than jumping between Biology and Maths we learn about the different theories like Drawing, Mark making and Materials, etc.

So far, I have found the environment really supportive towards my creativity as it is such a nice feeling to be surrounded by like minded people all striving to work in the creative industry.

To be completely honest, I have no idea (yet) as whether I'm more art/design/media. However, I don't think I'm much of a media person.

Thus far, I believe my strengths are perspective drawing, and proportion, as well as working in 3D. Over the past week I have realised I need to improve my drawing skills (in order to capture feeling) rather than simply drawing what is there. So instead of always working off of what is in front of me, I will attempt to practice drawing from how I feel.

In order to help do this I plan on joining extra drawing classes, and attempt to keep up a regular after school drawing schedules which will try to encompass and help strengthen my weaknesses.
